Charles Paul Adkins is here

Charles Paul Adkins is here.

Dawn started bleeding a little last night. Fortunately, we had some friends over. While we were saying our goodbye's last night, Dawn realized something was wrong. Kim and Larry were halfway to their car when I told them that they would be staying with the kids for a few hours while we went to the hospital. So, yeah for Kim and Larry Flathman.

We were scheduled to get a c-section Friday, but given the bleeding, they decided to go ahead and deliver today. Dawn went under general anesthesia, given that she had not responded well to previous pain killing techniques. So, about 8:30, Charlie arrived. He has dark, curly hair, Dawn's nose, and basically looks just like our other three. Specifications are coming. After about 20 minutes of observation, they unhooked him from all his wires. O2 levels were good. He cried and he urinated. I got to hold him for a few minutes. He is under observation now, but that is to be expected for a kid born at 36.5 weeks.

The nurses told me that we picked a good strong name in Charles Paul. I asked them if they ever told a parent, "You know you picked an awful name?" They said no. When that happens, they just say, "oh. that is a nice name." The 10 or so students looking at Charlie on the warming table all agreed that was the code for "what on earth were you thinking."

We took the wrong car and forgot our camera last night. Pictures will be coming shortly
